The Cosgriff stool and chair commission came right on the heels of a week spent at a Windsor chair course we took with the guru Joe Graham (Lenox Woodworks). When we returned to the shop we brought the new techniques and introduced them to our own aesthetic. This is the result. The cherry seat is hand carved for comfort and style. The legs taper gently upward and are secured at the bottom with wedged through tenons. Wedged tenons can also be seen as a detail accenting the joinery of the stretchers connecting the legs down toward the floor. The stretcher pieces are placed at perfect foot-rest height while serving as structural elements that will keep the stool from ever wobbling.
